About · two founders · Johannesburg

One reads the numbers. One tells the story.

Nudge is two people. A chartered accountant who runs the diagnosis and a filmmaker who runs the story. We pair them on purpose, because the businesses we meet have a problem underneath and a problem outside, and fixing the second without the first just spends money faster.

Who you will be in the room with.

Substance

Chris Young

Chartered Accountant, CA(SA). Runs the diagnosis: where the money comes from, where the work gets stuck, and what the numbers say that the owner has not said yet. Writes the diagnosis and owns the order of work. Also keeps the working papers behind this site, and opens them to anyone who presses X.

Signal

Albie Roux

Filmmaker. Runs the story: what the outside sees, and what it should. Reads your website, your posts and your proposals the way a stranger would, then builds the content, film and campaigns once there is something true to build them on. Owns the Grow step.

Portraits: real photographs, once taken. No stock faces on this site, ever.

Why this pairing.

Every business we meet has two problems that look like one. The pairing exists so that both get looked at by someone who does that for a living.

  • 01The problem underneath is a numbers and operations problem. Which customers, which products, which months, and who waits on whom. That is accountant's work, and most marketing people are not equipped for it.
  • 02The problem outside is a story problem. A stranger looks at your website, your posts and your proposal and draws a conclusion in seconds. Knowing what they conclude, and changing it, is a filmmaker's work.
  • 03Doing the second without the first is the expensive mistake. A good story about a stuck business brings in more of the wrong customers, faster. So the diagnosis comes first, and Albie's work waits for it.

How we work.

Six rules. They are the same ones this website was built under, which is why you can open its files.

  1. 01
Test before anything is touched. The Signal Audit is the deep version, and the only way into fixing the business underneath. A website, search, social, film or campaigns can be bought on their own, and each one starts with testing, inside the price.
  2. 02
Both of us, every time. There is no account manager. The people you meet are the people who do the work.
  3. 03
The price is on the page. From R10,000 for the audit, confirmed in writing before you book. The fixing underneath is quoted in the diagnosis itself, under what it costs. The story outside, websites, search, social, film and campaigns, is priced on its own page.
  4. 04
We will not invent results. No fabricated numbers, no stock faces, no testimonials we cannot show you the source of. Where we lack proof, the page says so.
  5. 05
Everything is measured. The checks we sell are run on our own site in front of you. The working file behind every element says how we will know it worked.
  6. 06
Plain language. If you need a glossary to read the diagnosis, we wrote it badly.

Two questions we get asked.

Why a chartered accountant and a filmmaker?
Because the two halves of the problem need two different people. The business underneath needs someone who reads numbers and operations without flinching. The story outside needs someone who knows what makes a stranger keep watching. Most agencies have the second and pretend to the first.
Who will I actually work with?
Chris and Albie. There is no account manager and nobody between you and the people doing the work. Both of us are in the room for every Signal Audit.
